Hobart left me feeling warm and fuzzy after a great day at the Royal Botanical Gardens – a must see.

On my way back from Sydney I found this beautiful

On my way back from Sydney I found this beautiful book with almost bird life size photographs/illustrations that simply took my breath away. As soon as I opened it, I knew I had to have it. Sometimes a book just resonates. This one is the perfect resource as I’m embark on making more porcelain birds and highlighting the inevitable loss of these creatures from land and human impact 🤍.

This was taken in the back streets of Newtown, Sydney. I love the yellow against the deep blue sky. I’m heading to Sydney soon for a flying visit to deliver a long piece of wall artwork sold through @galleryofsmallthingscbr, check out my own artwork @ampmceramics which has now been installed and have a girlies catch-up with a dear friend in the city.

I’ve been busy doing online classes and enjoying

I’ve been busy doing online classes and enjoying the @gerrywedd masterclass. I’m trying to get back on track and focus on my practice.

The classes are run by the @australianceramics Association. While I bought this session back in 2022, what I love is I can still access it and pace myself listening, making and not take myself too seriously!

You can see my vase is nowhere near Gerry’s shape but I’m giving it a go! I highly recommend being a member in order to access these masterclasses. So worth it!

Also, just after I made this, we headed to @nationalmuseumofaustralia and I spied a fabulous jar in the ‘Discovering Ancient Egypt’ exhibition. It’s from the 2nd to 4th century and an ‘ … example of coarse-ware pottery that Nubian people at Spokane used every day …”. I hope mine lasts the firing process first ☺️.

Ceramics at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. All I can say is, I had to visit twice and still couldn’t fit in the vast collections the V&A have on display.

I’ve written a travel story about ceramics on the 4th floor of the V&A along with images of contemporary to historic vessels, colours from white to yellow, and so much more.

Grayson in Edinburgh! I lucked in with this fabulo

Grayson in Edinburgh! I lucked in with this fabulous ceramics and tapestry show by UK artist Grayson Perry. I spent a few hours in the rooms looking at his works but also watching visitors interact with much enthusiasm. His storytelling resonates I think more than we expect. There is something familiar whether it’s his detailed street maps or people chatting on his vases that stirs the imagination and gets a conversation or two going.

I only wish the catalogue didn’t way a ton as I would have brought one home. Instead, I’m glad I have photos to keep going back and reminisce our time overseas. Enjoy a few faves from the exhibition.

Yellow! How I love thee! These flowers are inside

Yellow! How I love thee! These flowers are inside Balliol College, University of Oxford. This is where Adam’s dad Gordon studied and we lucked in with a rare visit to see his stomping ground. The first thing you see is the main courtyard which has the most beautiful garden. I went crazy of course photographing every petal in sight.

It’s a bittersweet day as it would have been his 87th birthday today. But Adam’s sister Gin and nephew in law Zac are both celebrating today. Happy birthday fellow Aquarians!
