When I first arrived at the Ceramic Center and spied this chair in my room…all I could think was…how do I smuggle it home!
It’s a cute sitting chair and I imagine long ago dainty women would sit in a room and sew beautiful handkerchiefs by hand. As for moi…she can’t sew, knit or anything that involves the delicate textiles art form. But drawing and capturing my favourite chair…well I’d be remiss not to do this before I leave.
So here are three photos. The original chair, my pencil drawing and then the final drawing. I use pro-marker pens and couldn’t help but purchase a box of 12 new pretty colours. It only cost 149 DKK (@$25 AUD). Back home the same set costs $119 which makes me wonder why some businesses charge so much! I don’t mind paying but geez explain the inflation…Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little drawing and a change from photos and writing.
My first thought when I saw the chair was that it was possibly a commode chair!! Wrong, wrong, wrong. When I was a child our next door neighbours had this lovely chair in their bedroom. I fell in love with it and thought that when I grew up and had my own home I would have a chair just like Mrs Robinson’s. It was some time before I found out that the chair had a potty under the seat for Mrs Robinson to use during the night!!! I was rather deflated by this news, but I still thought the chair was very special. Now we have on-suites attached to our bedrooms, not as special as the chair, but so much more practical!
It is a beautiful chair and your drawings are great. Do you think it will fit in your backpack along with some clay??? It was lovely to talk to you the other night. Mind you Miami was walking from room to room while we were talking to you. I am sure he was looking for his mistress. I hope the next couple of weeks go well for you and all your firings turn out as you hope.
Exciting news about the house-hunting. Watson would be a great area to live in, close to the Uni and lots of nice eateries in the area. We hope that all goes well with your plans.
Aunty Marcia had her hip replacement operation on Friday and has been having a very rough time. I spoke to her again this morning and she had been showered and washed her hair for the first time and sounded a little better, but has been in a great deal of pain. Let’s hope all goes well and she is back to normal shortly. Chris is due to have his knee re-done on the 14th Feb. I mentioned it to him on the phone the other night and he really did not want to talk about it. Louise is telling him how many sleeps he has left! School re-commenced to-day for Primary students and the seniors back to-morrow (Tuesday).
We have a fellow coming this afternoon to give us a quote on replacing the roofing on the back deck. Dad said he thinks it would cost a bomb, so we will just have to wait and see. I am hoping for a bargain….
